Weekly Judgment Round-Up


The value of judgments registered in Ireland against companies and individuals rocketed to more than €6.1m this week as the taxman,credit unions and banks turned to the courts to ensure debtors met their financial obligations, according to StubbsGazette.

There were 120 judgments registered and the single biggest registered judgment was for €1,253,163.10, against Richard Larkin of StradballySouth, Clarinbridge, County Galway and Declan Burke of Tonroe, Oranmore, CountyGalway. The creditor in this case was the Irish Bank Resolution CorporationLtd., Dublin.

The Collector General was among the most active in the courts, securing 60 registered judgments valued at €2.3m -- representing 50pcof all registered judgments and 38pc of the overall value. The largest commercial judgment was taken by the Collector General against BradyConstruction Bandon Ltd. for €439,519.08.

The average value of a registered judgment was €51,923.00.The data excludes summary and non-registered judgments.
